We often think of creating a better society and this is akin to chase the mirage. A better society is what we strive for and we aim to build it around core values i.e. equality, democracy and sustainability. With this belief we started to think about creating this trust which will be measured by relative barometers of a good society. It’s a most important part of human race and building block of every environment.
A healthy society depends on how society treats its seniors, how society treats its sick and how society treats its women and it comes from hallmark of goodness which could be measured by human’s mental and spiritual evolution. Keeping in view the resource constraints and limited technical expertise available, we are trying our best and put our efforts for capacity building.
With the busy schedule of life, many times felt an urge to do something which can satisfy myself from the bottom of my heart. But could not happen as life was changing so fast. But the day has come when thought to decide to do something positive in life which could help others specially those who are deprived and cant fulfil their dreams due to lack of proper knowledge and about their basic rights. At this juncture of life we formed Goodturn Charitable Trust with few friends who were thinking the same. But now we are not few in numbers, now we are a team and working as a team. We are working for the underprivileged people and trying to change their lives by empowering them, by providing them educational and medical support. If someone gets anything from society he or she will also return to the society and it balances the cycle of life. Humanity brought all of us here to serve the society. We could now think of a better society the way we have stepped forward with positive minded people. I request all of you to come forward and support us, help us to help others.
"Change is the only constant" - we all are aware about this phrase, but there is a certain portion of our society, for whom there is no change in their daily routine! Days in and days out, still their life struggle remain the same. They struggle for their daily food, daily wear, basic education, and a hygienic life style. And the other portion of this society have all these in excess. This distinct disparity has always shaken me up and I felt an urge to do something for these underprivileged people. But there remains a very little scope to contribute when you are alone. But when you find few similar mentality people in one place, who feel the same like you and have the intention to give back something to the society from which we are earning our daily livelihood, you get United as a team and form a group to stand by that underprivileged section, who needs a bit attention from you. We, the Good Turners try to do that only - to extend our helping hands to those people who are tired with their boring daily struggle, and to bring a sense of relief and smile on their faces. And those smiling faces and the joyous gestures give us that immense satisfaction, which can not be achieved just by enjoying ourselves. Our motto is to show them the day in a bit different way, by means of some good nutrition, decent clothes, and a chance to study so that they can lay the foundation of their lives. For this, we need people like you, who, by the mercy of God, have the ability to extend the required helping hand to pull these people from the darkness and drive them towards brightness, which is the basic right of all human being. I urge you all to be our patron and help us to fulfill our mission in terms of feeding the unfed, giving clothes to the needy, and facilitating education for the children who are the future of our society. “You only live once”, that is why we should cherish every moment and lead our life in such a way so that we feel proud of ourselves. But as a human being shouldn’t we do anything for the society? Humanity is the basic principle of all religions and this principle has brought all of us under one roof and we formed the Goodturn Charitable Trust. Our main focus is rural community. We wish to extend our hands towards those underprivileged people who wish to fulfil their dreams and those who dreams for a good life and a good society. Our aim is to aware people and uplift their living condition by giving them right education, right care and right protection. The environment, the society, the values our forefathers gifted us, should be passed on to our next generation. We are grateful that we got an opportunity that we could think of others for making a better society. And few hands joined us to think about betterment of society. Lets come and join hands to take an oath to set afoot into a new society where there is no hunger, no illiteracy and no unemployment. “We are the change and we could change”.But as a human being shouldn’t we do anything for the society? Humanity is the mother of all religions. In fact there is no higher religion than human service. To work for common good is the greatest creed. The best way to find ourselves is lose ourselves in the service. Our purpose of life is to work selflessly for the progress of humanity associated with love, compassion, right conduct, truthfulness and sympathy. A good thought has the capability of changing the whole world. So we stepped forward out of our lives to lit a candle in the darkest moments of others life and formed the Goodturn Charitable Trust. We empower people which could help them to fulfill their dreams and live their life happily. We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give.
As a Treasurer of Good Turn Charitable Trust, I am pleased to share a brief overview of our financial stewardship and express my sincere appreciation for the trust and generosity that fuel our mission.
Over the past year, we have worked diligently to ensure that every contribution - big or small - is used responsibly and transparently to support our core programs. Our commitment to financial accountability remains strong, and we continue to operate with a clear focus on maximizing impact while minimizing overhead.
Regular audits, clear reporting, and transparent budgeting are central to our financial operations as we know every expense is a reflection of our values. We believe that openness builds trust, and we are always ready to engage with our members and donors regarding the use of funds and the sustainability of our initiatives. In these years we maintained full compliance with all legal and financial regulations and conducted an independent audit to uphold transparency.
Past few years have been both challenging and inspiring for us. Despite many challenges, global events like Covid, we have remained steadfast in our mission to provide our support to underprivileged children & women in rural Bengal, worked together to fulfil the dream of one of our popular project "Empowerment for Sustainable development”.
Looking ahead, we are committed to not only sustaining our programs but expanding them. But this is only possible with your continued support—whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about what we do.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you - our members, partners, volunteers, and supporters - for being here and for your unwavering dedication to our mission. Together, we are not just managing funds - we are building futures. With your continued support, we look forward to create even greater impact in the year ahead.
Ms. Suparna Mitra, Co-Treasurer
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one. -John Lennon
In the journey of life, dreams are not merely aspirations—they are the guiding lights that propel us forward.
They instill hope, nurture resilience, and empower us to face adversity with courage. Yes, I am a dreamer, and to a considerable extent, an emotional soul as well. I cannot perform my duties with mechanical detachment; I cannot make decisions solely with the mind while silencing the voice of my heart. I am not wired to be purely rational and logical, especially when such cold calculations conflict with my inner values.
The society we inhabit today has, in many ways, become a gilded prison for us all.
Some are trapped in the prison of luxury, self-centeredness, and blind materialism, while others suffer in the prison of poverty, exploitation, and systemic neglect. The ugly face of discrimination stares at us from every corner—so disheartening and vile that anyone with even a modicum of humanity cannot bear to look away. Like many others, I, too, have felt a deep desire to bring about change, however small, within the scope of my ability.
In that pursuit, I was fortunate to discover a group of like-minded individuals who shared the same passion, vision, and unshakable belief in human dignity. That’s when I found Good Turn Charitable Trust.
It may not boast a plush office or a lavish bank account like other NGOs, but what it does have is something far more valuable—a dream. A dream of equality, a vision for women’s empowerment, and a heartfelt mission to uplift those in need. And so, I chose to become a part of this noble initiative. I feel immense pride and joy in being counted among its dedicated members.
Helping the vulnerable is not just our duty—it is our shared calling. But beyond offering temporary relief, our ultimate goal is to empower them, to make them strong and self-reliant. So that one day, they too can extend their hands to lift others. Only through this ripple effect of compassion and solidarity can we hope to diminish the deep-rooted injustices and inequalities that plague our society. চলে যাব- তবু আজ যতক্ষণ দেহে আছে প্রাণ
